What is Situ?

Situ is an immersive web-based tool that enables clients, agencies and research companies to truly experience outdoor media before going live in the real world. Simply log in to the Situ web tool, choose a 360° video and drag and drop your creative onto the pre-made placeholders. When ready, share and present your projects to make your creative come alive.

How do I create an account?

If you have received an invitation to join Situ, follow the link supplied to setup your account. After providing your full name, a username and a valid email address, you will be asked to create a password. Once you have verified your email address, you will be able access any shared projects through Situ or on the Situ Viewer app.
If you have been invited to join a team, you will be able to create and edit projects on Situ and then view them on the Situ Viewer app.

Using the Situ Editor

How do I change a project’s details?

To change any of your projects details, open the project and select Project Details. From here, you can change the project title, description, job number and the assigned client. Any changes you make will be updated instantly.

How do I join a creative team?

The only way to join a creative team is to be invited by a team administrator. Your team administrator will create your account, select your username and send you an invite to join their team. If you wish to sign your team up for Situ, use the Sign Up link above.

How can I find my projects on the Situ web tool?

When you log into Situ or open the Situ Viewer app, you will see all the projects you have created as well as all projects that have been shared or re-assigned to you. Although you cannot edit projects that don’t belong to you, you can explore all the project locations and cycle through the media that has been attached to creative placeholders. Any project that you can edit will be collated under Your Projects.

How do I create a new project?

If you want to create a new project, you can click Create a New Project from the Project Library screen. When you create a new project, you will be asked to give it a project name and indicate the client. Additionally, you are able to assign a job number and provide a project description. Although not necessary, a project description will help other members of your team better understand your project.

How do I add a new location to my project?

To add a new location to one of your projects, open the project and click Add a New Location. Once you have done this, you will be taken to the Location Library where you will be able to select the template for your new location. Location templates feature 4K 360° background videos as well as a set of creative placeholders which have been pre-placed within the scene. After selecting a template you will be able to name your new location.

What is the Location Library?

When you browse the Location Library, you can filter the results by certain categories and places. The categories tags describe the type and placement of billboards in real-world locations, which may include static outdoor, digital outdoor, transit or roadside.
The places tags allows you to search for locations in specific continents, countries or territories, such as Australia, Europe, USA or Canada. Filtering places can be useful If you want to present your creative in a special place, or only plan on launching a campaign in one country.

How can I view locations on the Situ web tool?

Once you’ve clicked on a project, you can click on any of the locations within to view them. When viewing a location, you can click and drag with the mouse over the location window to look around, or click on placeholders to automatically face the camera towards them.
How this screen looks and functions depends on whether you own the project or if it was shared with you. If you created the location then the screen will be divided into three parts: the location window, the side panel and the Project Media and Project Contents at the bottom of the screen.
If the project was shared with you, it will be divided into two parts: the location window and the Project Contents at the bottom of the screen. If a shared location is available for a live presentation, only the location window will be visible

How can I view locations in full-screen on the Situ web tool?

If you want to view a project in full-screen mode, you can click the expand icon located at the top left of the location window. Full-screen mode will hide the the side panel and minimise Project Media and Project Locations. If the project does not belong to you, it will only be viewable in full-screen mode.

What file formats does Situ support?

Situ is compatible with .jpg, .png and .mp4 images and videos. Images on Situ are limited to 5mb in size while videos are limited to 125mb. This limit is designed to preserve the streaming quality to the Situ Viewer app. To ensure that your media will be accepted by Situ, make sure your creative does not exceed these file limits.

What dimensions should my creative be?

Creative placeholders have a pre-defined aspect ratio that’s determined by the size of the real-world billboard. If your creative does not match, Situ will crop and center it on the placeholder.
If you would prefer your media fit exactly, Situ can provide the pixel dimensions based on the creative placeholder’s aspect ratio. Select the placeholder in the side panel, then under Artwork Details type in the current height of your media. The calculator will provide you will an ideal width to match this creative placeholder. Simply edit your creative in your prefered photo or video editing software to match these new dimensions.

How do I upload creative?

To upload your creative to Situ, open select a project, open a location and click Add Media. Then, drag your files into the box provided or click the box to bring up an open dialog. Once your file has uploaded you will be able to drag it from Project Media onto a creative placeholder. Every file you upload will be available to use in each location in that project.

How do I add media to a creative placeholder?

If you want to add creative to a placeholder, make sure you’ve uploaded the files you want to use first. Then scroll left or right through your Project Media to locate the the creative you want to use. When you have found it, click and drag it from Project Media onto the creative placeholder. You can add multiple files to the same placeholder.

How do I change placeholder media?

If you have given a creative placeholder multiple pieces of media, you will be able to switch between them. To change the visible media on a creative placeholder, click the placeholder you would like to edit. Then, you can change which image or video is visible by clicking the left and right arrows that appear either side of the placeholder. If the creative placeholder you would like to edit is offscreen, you can select that placeholder from the side panel.

How can I hide a creative placeholder?

If there is a creative placeholder in a location that you don’t want to use – or if you don’t want any changes you make to be visible when presenting live – you can hide it. To hide a creative placeholder, click Creative in the side panel and select the placeholder. Then, click on the eye icon.
Hidden placeholders won’t be visible in the location editor on Situ web tool, or on the Situ Viewer app. If you decide you want that placeholder to be visible, click on the eye icon again to turn visibility back on.

How can I adjust location volume?

Each 360° video has an audio track which plays whenever someone views the location. If you want to adjust the volume for that location, click Location Settings in the side panel. Then under Background Audio Volume, drag the slider left or right.

How can I adjust placeholder volume?

The volume for each creative placeholder can be controlled independently. To change a placeholder’s volume, click Creative in the side panel and select the placeholder. Then, under Audio Volume, drag the slider left or right.

How do I change a location’s details?

To delete a location, open the location and select Location Settings from the side panel and then click Delete this Location. Alternatively, return to the project overview and hover your mouse over the location you would like to delete. Click the trash can icon that appears, then click Confirm.
Once you have deleted a location, it cannot be recovered.

How do I change a project’s details?

If you would like to delete one of your projects, you can do so from the Project Library. If you hover your mouse over a project, a trash can icon will appear in the top right corner of the project preview image. Click the trash can icon, then click Confirm.

Sharing Projects and Giving Live Presentations

What are shared projects?

Shared projects enable one user to show their project to another. Once a project has been shared, it can then be made live and presented in real time.

How do I share a project?

To share a project, select Share from the Project Details or Location screens and click Invite Someone to View This Project. Then type the email address of the person you would like to share your project with. You can share with multiple people in one go and you can add or remove people at any time.
If the person you shared with does not already use Situ, they will be able to create an account for free and immediately view your project.

How can I stop sharing a project?

To stop someone from being able to see your shared project, you can remove them from the share list. To remove someone, select Share from the Project Detail or Location screens and click“Remove next to the users name. If you don’t want anyone to be able to see your project, just remove every name from this list.

What are live projects?

Live projects are like presentations. They allow your audience can watch you swap out creative, and jump between locations in real time from anywhere in the world, empowering you to craft compelling narratives. If your clients don’t want to watch in real time, they can choose to explore the projects themselves at any time.

How do I make a project live?

After you have shared a project you can present it live to everyone it is shared with. Under Present Live in the side panel, click Start a Live Presentation. When live, any changes you make will be updated in real time.

How do I find shared projects on the Situ web app?

Once someone has shared a project with you, you can view it in your project library. Projects  can be filtered by clicking either My Projects or Shared with Me. When you open a shared project, you will not be able to upload new media or drag media onto creative placeholders, but you will be able to pan around the 360° scene and click through the media on each placeholder. When a project is live all you have to do is watch, just sit back while the presenter shows off their creative.

How do I assign a project to another team member?

If you would like one of your team members to be able to work on your project, you can assign it to them. Once you have assigned your project to a team member, you will not be able to edit it again until they re-assign it back to you.
To assign one of your projects to a team member, open the project and select Project Details and then click on Reassign this project. Under Select a team member to reassign this project to, you will be able choose one of your team members. After making your choice, click Reassign, and return to your Project Library.

The Situ Viewer App

What is the Situ Viewer app?

The Situ Viewer app is a free companion app that allows you to view Situ projects on your smartphone, anytime, anywhere. Although you cannot edit these projects, you can explore all the project locations and cycle through the different media that has been attached to creative placeholders.

How do I install the Situ Viewer app?

To find the Situ Viewer app, search your app store for “Situ,” or visit situ360.com/mobile-app. Once the Situ Viewer has downloaded, login with your email address and password to access your projects and any projects that have been shared with you.
While the Situ Viewer App is only available for iOS right now, it is currently in development for Android devices. The Situ Viewer app will be available through Google Play in the future.

How can I find my projects on the Situ Viewer app?

When you open the Situ Viewer app, you will be able to see all of your projects as well as any projects that have been shared with you. To view a project, simply tap on it. When it opens, you’ll be taken to the first location in that project. If you want to change locations, tap Change Location and select the location from that project you would like to view.

How can I view locations in VR on the Situ Viewer app?

When you view a project in the Situ Viewer app, you have the option to use handheld mode or VR mode. In handheld mode, hold your device in landscape and pan your phone around in any direction. To use VR mode, tap View in VR then insert your device into your prefered VR headset. In VR, you will be immersed within the 360° scene and will be able to view creative simply by moving your head. You can switch between handheld and VR modes at any time while viewing a location in the Situ Viewer app.

My screen has become squashed / compressed after using VR?

If while using the VR mode the image on your screen becomes squashed or compressed, force quit the application and restart.

How can I view shared projects on the Situ Viewer app?

Projects that have been shared with you will be specially marked in the Situ Viewer app. If a project has been shared with you, it will feature an eye symbol at the bottom right of the preview image.
To view a shared project, simply tap on it. When it opens, you’ll be taken to the first location in that project. If you want to change locations, tap Change Location and select the location from that project you would like to view.
Projects that have been shared with you all belong to other Situ users. If any of those users deletes a projects, or revokes your access specifically, you will not be able to view that project any more. You may lose access to a shared project at any time.

How can I view live projects on the Situ Viewer app?

If someone wants to present one of their projects to you, they will be able to make that project live. A live project will reflect any changes made instantly, allowing you to get the full creative experience. If a project is available for live viewing, it will be moved to the top row of projects in the Situ Viewer app and will be specially marked as “live.” Tap on that project to open it, then just sit back and enjoy the presentation.

What are creative placeholders?

Locations in Situ are made up of two parts: the 360° video and the creative placeholders. A creative placeholder is like a virtual billboard which can store multiple pieces of media. In our location templates, creative placeholders are inserted over real-world signs and billboards, allowing users to see exactly how a campaign will look in situ.

How can I change placeholder media on the Situ Viewer app?

Although you can’t upload media or drag and drop it onto placeholders in the Situ Viewer app, you can switch between media that’s already applied to creative placeholders. To choose which image or video you want displayed, just tap on the placeholder and then tap the left and right arrows.

What should I do if my mobile phone reception is preventing me from streaming 360° videos?

When you view a location in the Situ Viewer app, you can choose how the background 360° video and the associated media reach your device. To change how your device accesses media, go to the settings within the Situ Viewer app and under Media Settings select either Download Media or Stream Media. While the Stream Media option will work for most users, Download Media is recommended if you have an intermittent or slow internet connection.

How can I clear the Situ Viewer app cache?

To improve performance, the Situ Viewer app stores some project and location data locally. If you need to clear this data, go the settings with the Situ Viewer app and select Clear Cache.

How can I adjust the 360° video quality on the Situ Viewer app?

The Situ Viewer app is able to stream or download media at either 4K or 1080p. If your device does not support 4K natively, you will automatically receive 1080p content. If your device does support 4K but you would prefer to stream or download 1080p content anyway, you can change your selection within Settings under Preferred Media Quality.

Administering a Situ Team

How can I set up a creative team?

If you want to set up a team on Situ, you can sign up on behalf of your organisation. To select your initial plan and payment details, please contact us.

How can I add a new member to my team?

If you are an administrator, you can invite others to become a part of your team. You’ll know if you’re an Administrator because you would have signed up for Situ on behalf of your organisation. To create a new user, click Account, then under Team Management, select Add a New Team Member.

How do I add a payment source?

If you want to use a different payment source for your plan, click Account, then click Subscription. Under Add a card to your account, fill in the card details that you would like to be charged. You can store multiple payment sources to your account.

How can I change my plan?

If you want to select a different plan for your organisation, click Account, then click Subscription. From this screen, scroll down to Available Plans and select the plan the best suits your needs.

How can I manage my team?

To view your team, click Account, then click Team Management. From this screen, you can keep track of how many team members you have and their status.
All current members of your team should be listed as Active. If a team member’s status is Inactive that means they have not completed their account set up and have not used Situ.
From this same screen you can also delete users by clicking Remove Team Member. When deleting a team member you are able to re-assign their projects to another member of your team. After clicking Re-assigning projects, just select the Team Member you want to take over and click Re-assign.

Troubleshooting

How can I change my password?

If you want to update your password, click Account. Under Password Settings, enter and confirm your new password.

What can I do if I forgot my password?

If you have forgotten your password, visit app.situ360.com. From the login screen, select Forgot Password and then follow the instructions to set a new password.

My images or videos are cropped, how do I fix it?
